The star has donated the complete sum of his £25,000 Mercury Prize prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to protect the UK's grassroots live music spots.
He was given the cheque on October 16 as his latest record the album was chosen as the best record of the previous year.
Fender has opted to give the cash to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his initial steps.
"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it weren't for all the shows I performed around the region, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," remarked the artist. "These venues are iconic, but they are facing challenges."
From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – roughly 16 percent of the total UK scene.
Recently, well-known musicians like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.
Fender also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to help numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.
These funds supported venues that were facing possible closure due to difficulties caused by water damage, fires and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and sound issues.
Some locations received financial assistance in upgrading amenities and technical equipment that directly benefitted musicians and concertgoers.
"The idea that revenue from shows in major spaces backs the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has commented.
The musician is far from the only musician to contribute his honor funds to worthy causes.
Back when they earned the trophy in the year 1996 for their record their work, frontman the singer stated that the act would contribute their prize money to the charity the charity.
During 2002, artist Ms Dynamite divided her bounty between a few charities, like the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"Additionally, I contributed a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they required new equipment," she told outlets.
In recent years, Ezra Collective contributed their prize money to the youth organization that supported their act, in addition to other local music groups.
Also 1994 winners the group donated their prize to a charity for MS after a friend was identified with the condition.
"Receiving the award was ample," stated vocalist Small. "The money was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the main prize. So our victory impacted the lives of others."
In the past week, the trust revealed it had rescued a couple of local spots in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.
One venue in that area and the second in the city were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is supported by the arts council and music fans who purchase "stakes" in the buildings.
